Intersectionality to be addressed by industry leading panel at ‘Not just another D&I Event’ 

Corecom Technology Academy (CTA) is delighted to announce an exciting line-up of topics and industry experts for its Diversity & Inclusion (D&I) event titled: ‘Not Just Another D&I Event’ on 20 April 2023 from 10.00am - 12.00pm at The Terrace in Leeds City Centre. 

 

The industry leading panel will be addressing: 

  • What is Intersectionality? 

  • How Intersectionality impacts the digital skills market and general workforce 

  • How we can use awareness of intersectionality to drive diversity and inclusion in organisations

Holly Straker-Humphreys - Head of Diversity, Inclusion & Belonging at Improbable 

Holly Straker-Humphreys works for British metaverse technology business Improbable, as well as being a mentor at Resurgo who empower businesses, charities, churches and individuals to transform society. Previously Holly worked at Sky Betting and Gaming working across a variety of ED&I roles, including Learning & Inclusion Advisor and Inclusion and Engagement Lead. She’s a fully qualified Neurodiversity trainer and has been awarded the Best Diversity and Inclusion Model Award from EGR Global. 

 

John Ebo - Head of Projects ED&I at Leeds City Council 

John has worked for Leeds City Council, employer of over 14,000 people, for over 16 years. Currently in a senior EDI role, he is leading reviews on organisational practises on inclusion. With a responsibility for cultural change across the organisation, John is working on the following five key pillars, including: improvement, progression, training, zero tolerance to discrimination (high support, high challenge) and data. He is also 2022 alumni of the HSJ award winning WYHCP Leadership Fellowship for Aspiring Directors in public service. 

 

Cleveland Henry - Group Delivery & Deployment Director at EMIS Group 

Cleveland has been Group Delivery & Deployment Director at EMIS Group for over two and a half years, leading a team responsible for delivery, deployment, implementation, training, and engineering across the Group’s portfolio of products and services. He is also a Non-Executive Director for Leeds and York Partnership NHS Foundation Trust and a Trustee for Leeds Community Foundation. Cleveland has been a D&I advocate for many years, speaking and advising at numerous industry events, including our sell-out Leeds Digital Festival event: ‘Labelled with a Diverse Characteristic? How to make it work for you – IMHO!’ in 2021. 

 

James Taylor – Managing Director at Corecom Technology Academy 

James co-founded CTA a year ago with the aim of supporting tech businesses grow by supplying ethical and truly inclusive training to up and coming tech talent. CTA are working to close the gender pay gap and support people from diverse, socially mobile or neurodiversity backgrounds get into the world of tech.  

James has over 14 years’ experience in tech with a blend of recruitment, tech outsourcing and academy knowledge. He has run staffing projects for clients across the UK, ranging from retained exec search, graduate academy assessment centres and bespoke tech consulting projects. 

 

About our event hosts 

The event will be hosted by Diversity and Inclusion Ambassadors, Aishia Ullah and Dominic Brown from The Corecom Group, alongside James Taylor. 

Aishia and Dom have helped to educate workforces on the benefits of creating a more diverse and inclusive environment, to become more inclusive employers and assisted organisations in increasing the number of diverse individuals in their recruitment pipelines and tech teams.
